Michael has been a part of The Rehabilitation Specialist team since 2013 when he commenced in an administrative role whilst he was completing his Masters of Physiotherapy degree. He then progressed to a Rehabilitation Consultant role on completion of his studies, and in 2018 has been promoted to a Senior Rehabilitation Consultant role. Since 2015 Michael has worked 2 days per week in a clinical role to help further his knowledge and skills in managing various musculoskeletal conditions. As of April 2018 Michael will be working full time at The Rehabilitation Specialists.
Michael has worked across WorkCover NSW, WorkSafe ACT, and Comcare, and in 2017 he progressed to managing Life Insurance cases. Michael applies his knowledge to help clients to recover from their injuries, understand their injuries and/ or health condition and return to work safely. He is also passionate about ensuring his clients have the necessary capabilities and strategies to maintain health improvements long term.
One of Michael’s strengths is the ability to explain injuries and health conditions (e.g. cardiac conditions) clearly including: what to expect, what the injury/ condition means from a functional perspective and strategies for self-management. Michael also provided Functional Education specific to the injury or medical condition, and as this relates to the job role, an individual’s lifestyle and activities of daily living.
Michael is very experienced in undertaking complex workplace assessments including understanding business structure. He has enjoyed the progression to managing Life Insurance cases and the different approach that is required. He has achieved excellent outcomes to date and enjoys the challenges of complex cases.
